Marketing Specialist Job Description
The Marketing Specialist position will build the profile and reputation of Rowan Innovations and the South Jersey Technology Park at Rowan University as a progressive university for cutting-edge research, faculty inventions, commercialization activities, a strong talent pipeline and a place where entrepreneurs can successfully grow their business and industry can partner with Rowan. This position reports to the Managing Director, Rowan Innovations, through the Division of University Relations.
The successful candidate will help to position Rowan Innovations as a hub for driving a technology-based entrepreneurial economy.
Develop and execute marketing strategies and campaigns for Rowan Innovations including websites, email marketing, social media and event programming.
Develop and communicate marketing plans, campaign results and project recommendations to senior management team.
Build and manage Rowan Innovations social media profiles and presence including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and additional channels that may be deemed relevant.
Build and manage a content calendar for social media and create shareable content appropriate for specific networks to grow the Rowan Innovations brand and content.
Build a digital audience and drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from social network presence.
Manage various email campaigns, including the template designs, calls-to-action, and content used.
Develop presentations, marketing collateral, signage, and trade show material.
Track, measure, and analyze all initiatives to report on social media ROI. Develop strategies specific to various social networks, track the right metrics, and integrate the best tools and practices on those platforms.
Collaborate with university relations, research staff and marketing staff in various colleges to coordinate marketing efforts and brand awareness as well as maintain a consistent brand voice and message.
Research and test partnership opportunities with other organizations to expand our reach.
Develop content and press releases for media relations when needed.
Assist with event planning and potentially work after hours with travel to attend a trade show or event.
Perform other duties as assigned.
BA/BS degree and minimum two (2) years of professional work experience in marketing
Strong understanding of Microsoft Office programs
Excellent writer and communicator (in written and verbal form) and creative thinker with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.
Skilled in editing with the ability to adopt the style, tone, and voice of Rowan and SJTP in various types of content as well as promoting written and visual content.
Excellent organizational skills and project management experience to work independently and manage projects with many moving parts and vendors.
Working knowledge and command of best practices and trends of social media and digital marketing
Work effectively in a team-based environment.
