Administers programs to promote awareness of department services and/or products within the university community and/or to the general public, such as direct mail, telemarketing, advertising, publicity, community relations, promotional activities, special events, websites, etc.
Develops, produces and distributes publications and other promotional materials for department marketing and public relations purposes.Â Collaborates with faculty, staff or clients on marketing, strategic issues and ways to position or portray progress, services, goods or services within university and/or to the general public through publications or other promotional materials. Coordinates appropriate use of university and/or department logos, emblems and indicia.
Researches and prepares budget proposals for marketing purposes, as assigned.

Develops and implements market research instruments or utilizes standard market research instruments to collect information necessary to develop market strategies and/or market department goods and/or services.Â Plans and conducts comprehensive surveys to identify market needs and requirements, as appropriate.

Establishes and maintains appropriate network of professional contacts. Maintains currency with professional organizations and publications. Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, etc. Represents University and/or unit, as assigned or appropriate.
Provides leadership and guidance to staff, student workers, volunteers, outside consultants and/or other constituencies, as assigned.

The Office of Sustainability is seeking an innovative and driven individual to join their team as a Fixed-Term Marketing Specialist.This role will:- Develop and implement an integrated multi-platform outreach and engagement marketing plan for the USC Office of Sustainability, to include strategic visioning, program and project development and administration, budget development, and staff supervision, including student interns, as necessary. - Create a marketing strategy consistent with USCâs mission, brand, and values, including the importance of sustainability to the USC Presidentâs strategic vision for the university. - Advance the universityâs sustainability brand identity, broaden awareness of its sustainability programs and priorities, and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences. - Develop all elements of the USC Office of Sustainabilityâs multiplatform marketing program, including digital and print advertising, e-newsletter, website, digital and print collateral material, and social media to inform USC students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and effect large-scale change in sustainability practices and behaviors in the USC community.- Work closely with USC Central Communications and university subject matter experts from across academics and campus built environment to report on USC sustainability efforts, and develop content and collateral including annual reports and events/programming support. - Assist with the development of USC-branded waste-diversion educational messaging and signage. Develop and manage department marketing calendar. - Determine schedules and deadlines for production and distribution of marketing activities and publications. - Establish and maintain appropriate network of professional contacts. Screen and oversee work of outside vendors. Develop and maintain active network for efficient campus sustainability communications. - Benchmark near-peersâ marketing efforts.
