Reporting to the Associate Director of Strategic Communication, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day branding and marketing for all elements of the Career Center. The Marketing Coordinator brings a creative edge, has an interest in exploring design and market trends, and will collaborate closely with the Division of Communications. This position will utilize a mix of data analysis and creativity and will develop content marketing, email campaigns, and social advertising.
The Vanderbilt Career Center serves undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, in addition to alumni (0-2 years) post-graduation. The Career Center also supports students, postdocs, and alumni pursuing prestigious fellowships and postgraduate study. The Center focuses on career exploration, providing opportunities for students to learn about and explore professional opportunities including internships, career coaching, career courses, workshops, career panels, virtual and on-campus recruiting, job fairs, and industry-based Treks. The Center consists of a leadership team, a coaching team, fellowships and scholarships advising team, an employer relations team, and support staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Development of Branding and Marketing for the Career Center
Create engaging and informative branding and marketing materials for the Career Center - including resources for career coaches, fellowships advisors, employer relations specialists, and other office functions, as needed.
Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy.
Partner with the Vanderbilt University Communications team to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and to expand the center's reach.
Create both print and digital communications, including brochures, posters, content management for websites, rich media, landing pages, email campaigns, and digital strategy - ensuring graphics and files are optimized for the web.
Consult with Career Center staff to develop and implement marketing/PR materials, and creative programs for increasing the visibility of students to employers.
Ensure quality control through reviewing projects for accuracy, troubleshooting, confirming deliverables, and proofreading.
Collaborate with the associate director on marketing technology and applications within the digital landscape.
Ensure adherence to both Vanderbilt and the Career Center's brand, color, fonts, and guidelines
Craft and implement a social media strategic plan in coordination with the associate director.
Manage Career Center social media campaigns including tracking and evaluating the message and impact.
Data Analysis and Outcomes Reporting
Prepare reports and develop graphics using student outcomes data and satisfaction ratings.
Monitor and analyze trends and metrics to formulate new ideas and to enhance the Career Center's media strategy.
Project manage and evaluate campaign and marketing content performance - provide insights and make recommendations.
Partner with colleagues in the Career Advancement and Engagement unit and the Data and Strategic Analytics group on data strategy, analysis, and outcomes.
Bachelor's degree required.
A degree in marketing, advertising, communications, design, or related field preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
Understanding of design principles like composition, color theory, and typography.
Experience in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
Basic to intermediate knowledge of WordPress with an understanding of responsive, mobile-first web design, and an understanding of browser capabilities and limitations.
Working knowledge of digital marketing disciplines such as email marketing, CRM, and social media marketing.
Solid ability to independently research and troubleshoot solutions to problems as they arise.
Detail and deadline-oriented, with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects while collaborating actively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Solution-driven, highly creative, professionally curious about new trends and technologies, and able to improvise.
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in digital media, marketing, or in-house digital team environment as a digital professional in a marketing, creative, or interactive capacity.
Experience coordinating projects and workflows, as well as completing project management work within an agency or team environment.
A comprehensive portfolio, or body of work demonstrating relevant projects.
Familiarity with StoryBrand principles.
Demonstrated success in the program and/or project management for at least one year.
Ability to interact with students and staff members to accomplish office goals.
Strong initiative, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsible and independent nature: able to set goals and achieve them.
