Job Summary
Are you a dynamic and creative individual ready to lead innovative digital marketing efforts in a vibrant university environment? Student Affairs at Rochester Institute of Technology is seeking a Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist to lead the development, planning, and execution of forward-looking digital content strategies and campaigns, specifically focused on promoting student life.
This role reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications for Student Affairs and works in a highly-collaborative environment, with cross-functional teams across the university to promote the RIT student experience and support strategic Student Affairs initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute digital marketing strategies to enhance student engagement and promote the RIT student experience.
- Stay informed about the latest technology and industry trends to drive innovation in digital marketing initiatives.
- Lead the development and implementation of a social media content strategy for the Division of Student Affairs.
- Serve as the program lead and community manager for the main RIT Student Life social media channels.
- Ensure consistent representation of the divisional and university brand across various media and platforms.
- Supervise, hire, and manage a team of student employees who develop social media content and serve as RIT student life brand ambassadors.
Required Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelors degree (communications, digital media, marketing, or related field)
- 1-3 years of experience in a communications/multimedia/social media/marketing related position
- Ability to translate business goals into actionable marketing strategies
- Exceptional written communication skills, including writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Experience developing, implementing, and assessing social media strategies and tactics.
- Basic creative skills for social media content development, including design, photography, and videography.
- Ability to work in leadership, consultative, and collaborative roles with a variety of individuals (staff, faculty, and students), as well as departments and committees across disciplines
- Project management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities
- Team-oriented, flexible, and customer-service orientation
- Keen attention to detail
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving and planning skills.
- Possess a deep understanding of a diverse student body and a demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and cross-cultural issues.
- Ability to establish, nurture, and sustain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals.
- Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately.
- Experience using technology and systems to support administrative, operation and program functions.
- Possess a proactive willingness to participate in educational opportunities related to Deaf Culture. Additionally, the candidate must be willing to develop conversational American Sign Language (ASL) skills, reflecting an inclusive and adaptive approach to communication and cultural diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in marketing and communications in Higher Education.
- Experience working with a social media management tool.
- Experience in website management including basic knowledge of the Drupal platform.
- Experience with website analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
- Familiarity with Search Engine Optimization.
- Conversational ASL skills
